Jacob H. "Buck" Newsom Jr.

Jacob H. “Buck” Newsom Jr., age 80, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Preston, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011, at the Miller – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Preston. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Miller – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Preston. Burial will follow in the Preston Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Jacob was born December 9, 1930, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Dollie (Robbins) Newsom Sr. He married Marty Strobbe in Clinton, Iowa. Jacob worked for Collis Company in Clinton before retiring in 1995. He also farmed in his younger years and was a musician. Jacob attended the Church of the Open Door in Clinton.
Jacob is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Marty of Clinton; three daughters, Marlynn (Paul) Meyermann of Elvira, Iowa, Kim Snook of Berwick, Iowa and Melissa Newsom of Bettendorf, Iowa; three sons, Jacob Newsom III of Clinton, Hans Newsom of Kansas City, Missouri and Jason Newsom of Clinton; thirteen grandchildren, Tony, Troy, Zach, Thad, Chantelle, Brian, Brent, Maggie, Lucas, Crystal, Joshua, Brady, Paige; seven great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Clayton, Claire, Brenna, Briley, Isabella and Wyatt; and two sisters, Vilene Borgman of Arkansas and Irene Wright of North Carolina.
Jacob is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Milton; and one sister, Violet Wiepert.
