Jack David Morris, age 60, of Savanna, Illinois died on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.Jack "David" was born on January 14, 1950, the son of Henry L. and Mary “Mickey” Morris in Savanna. He attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1968. After graduation, Jack worked for Greisen's Shoe Store, Savanna and for several other shoe stores in the area. He later worked as a supervisor for Honeywell Micro Switch in Freeport, Illinois until retiring. After retiring, Jack stayed busy by working part-time at Elkay Mfg. in Savanna and Ipsco in Camanche, IA through the D.S.I. Corporation where he was declared Employee of the Year in 2009. He enjoyed reading books and was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. Most all, Jack loved spending time with his daughter, Heather. Jack will be dearly missed by his daughter, Heather L. Morris of Wheeling, Illinois, formerly of Savanna; one grandcat, Max; two brothers, Jim (Sally) Morris of Maryville, Tennessee, and Jerry (Peggy) Morris of Zephyr Hills, Florida; two sisters, Betty Raab of Chicago, Illinois and Jane Williams of Onalaska, Wisconsin; sister in-law Pat Raab of Clinton, Iowa; a dear family friend, Dr. Jovita Yanong; his mother in-law, Ruby Raymond of Savanna; one brother in-law, Michael (Lisa) Raymond of Beloit, Wisconsin; two sisters in-law, Vickie (Jon) Lockhart of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Kathy (Alex) Ihle-Jackson of Roscoe, Illinois. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bill Raab, and one brother-in-law, Larry Williams.
