Ivy Belinda Rose Rogers, age 62, of Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri, passed away on September 5, 2022, at Evelyn’s Hospice House, in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Her funeral service will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Mt. Carroll, IL, at 2pm. Visitation will take place from 12pm to 2pm, before the service. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in rural Mt. Carroll.
Ivy was born February 4, 1960, in Corpus Christi, TX, the daughter of Timothy and Shannon (Gillaland) Johnson. She attended Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi. On November 25, 1977, Ivy married Jon Carlos Rogers. They would go on to have two children.
Ivy had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, especially to Florida and Colorado. When she moved North to Michigan from Texas, she got to experience snow and fell in love with it. In her younger years she enjoyed drives in her red 1968 Camaro, swimming, roller skating, and bowling leagues. But her real loves in life were her dogs, music, and her family. She’d listen to music all day long, and always cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She would look forward to family reunions; the most recent having been held in West Virginia. At a family singing contest, she stepped to the front and, even in her poor health, sung Amazing Grace. She got beat by Noah doing the Hot Dog Song. That memory will live on with those who loved her.
Ivy is survived by her mother Shannon Johnson, of Magnolia, TX, daughter, Barbra Lynnette (Brock) Rogers Newton, of Dora, Missouri; son, Maurice William Rogers, of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ethan, Madison, Haley and Luchin; two great granddaughters, Dream and X’ziyah; and former husband, Jon Rogers. Ivy is preceded in death by her grandmother, Naomi; brother, James D. Sullivan; and uncles, Maxi, Guinn, and Barney.
