Isabelle "Izzy" Evelyn Brundage

Isabelle “Izzy” Evelyn Brundage, age 95, of Sabula, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue, Iowa. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 4, 2020 at 2:30 pm at Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 12:00-2:00 pm at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula, Iowa. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com .

Izzy was born on January 8, 1925, the daughter of Albert and Ellen (Yappen) Mangler in Green Island, Iowa. She attended Green Island Country school and graduated from Sabula High School with the class of 1942. On November 22, 1944, Isabelle married James “Bob” Brundage. Together they raised seven children and celebrated 61 years of marriage until Bob’s passing in 2006.

Izzy was a hardworking, fun, and loving mother who taught her children to be the same. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and she will forever be remembered in the community. Izzy enjoyed watching Hawkeye basketball, going out to eat, playing cards, bingo, and sitting on her front porch. Her entire family will miss her blackberry jelly, funny nicknames, and spunky sense of humor. Izzy was a one of a kind woman. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her family will be forever grateful for the love she created and shared!

Izzy will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Sandra (Jack) Kempter of Sabula, Tanya (Denny) Heintz of Fairfax, IA, and Kristi (Dan) Johnson of Sabula; her sister Mary Sandholdt of Oskaloosa; 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; three sons, Dan “Beno” Brundage, Jim Brundage, and Ricky Brundage; one daughter, Kathy Schoenhaar; a son-in-law, Brad Leonard; two grand-daughters, Tiffany Leonard and Terri Schoenhaar; a grandson, Kirk Kempter; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
