Irving F. Mehringer, Jr., age 83, of Lake Carroll, Illinois, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at his son’s home in Lake Carroll. A chapel funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in the St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Illinois Memorials may be given to Catholic Charities in Irving's memory.
Irving was born on April 18, 1927, the son of Irving F. and Emily (Hoh) Mehringer in Oak Park, Illinois. He graduated from Fenwick High School, Chicago and later attended the University of Illinois.
Irving worked in the Electro Motive Division for General Motors in McCook, Illinois for thirty-five years, before retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Brookfield, Illinois. Irving enjoyed bowling and had won three team bowling trophies in North Riverside, Illinois. He was also an avid Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and Chicago White Sox fan. Most of all, Irving loved spending time with his family and was proud of his son, Larry and daughter in-law, Kim.
Irving will be dearly missed by his two sons; Larry (Kim) Mehringer of Lake Carroll, Illinois and David Mehringer of Chicago, Illinois. Irving was preceded in death by his parents.
