Irma Alvina Sommer, age 92, of Elizabeth, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Irma was born on April 5, 1925, the daughter of August and Marie (Porshner) Spiss in Plum City, Wisconsin. She attended Plum City High School, and later, Cadet Nurses Training School in Chicago, Illinois. On September 4, 1948, Irma married Robert Sommer.
Irma worked as a Surgical Nurse in various hospitals, she also worked for several doctors, and in industrial nursing. Irma enjoyed spending time with her husband and attending horse shows with him. She loved horses, and also competed in riding and jumping contests.
Irma will be dearly missed by her family and close friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; two sisters, and two brothers.
