Iota I. Behrens, age 81, of Miles, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Eagle Point Nursing Home in Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the First United Presbyterian Church of Miles, Iowa. Reverend Bill Warhover will officiate. Burial will be in the Teeds Grove Cemetery, Teeds Grove, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Memorials may be given to the First United Presbyterian Church or the Eagle Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Iota’s name.
Iota was born April 19, 1924 the daughter of George and Malinda (Schroeder) Johannsen in rural Teeds Grove, Iowa. Iota graduated from Miles High School and then attended college in Cedar Falls, earning her teaching degree. She taught in country schools and later worked at Climax Manufacturing in Clinton, Iowa. She married Vernon Leroy Behrens on February 14, 1945, in Clinton, IA. Vernon died on January 26, 1986. Iota and her husband operated their family farm near Miles, Iowa for many years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Women. She also taught Bible and Sunday school at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles, Iowa. Iota enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, baking and loved to read. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family most of all.
Iota will be deeply missed by her two sons, Kenneth (Shirley) Behrens of Columbus Junction, Iowa and David (Sammy) Behrens of Clinton, Iowa; two daughters, Leanne (Jerry) Moehr of Gooselake, Iowa and Elaine (Richard) Schultz of Dickeyville, Wisconsin; one brother, Rodney (Lois) Johannsen of Tama, Iowa; one sister, Leola (Wilbert) Behrens of Sabula, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Iota is preceded in death by her husband Vernon, and one son-in-law Dwaine Ronnfeldt
