Inez "Peggy" Barr

Inez “Peggy” Barr, age 90, of Savanna died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Law Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Law Jones Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Savanna Township Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in Inez’s memory, in lieu of flowers.

Peggy was born February 2, 1923 in Edgar, Illinois. She graduated from Hammond Community High School, in Hammond, Illinois, with the Class of 1942. On December 16, 1944, Inez married William Barr in Savanna.

Peggy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women group, the Savanna V.F.W. auxiliary, and the Hillsdale American Legion Auxiliary. She was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Peggy enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Peggy will be dearly missed by one daughter, Loraine (Danny ) Haarman, of Yosemite, Kentucky; one son, Asa Barr of Savanna, Illinois; 4 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, William; one son William Jr.; two grandsons, William Barr the III and Mike Paulus; one granddaughter, Denise Gilmore; one granddaughter-in-law, Cheryl Barr; and both parents.
