Ida Hebeler

Ida Hebeler, age 96, of Thomson, IL passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 in Indianapolis, IN with her two daughters by her side. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson.

Ida was born on July 15, 1922, the daughter of James and Emma Lambert in Savanna, Illinois. She attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1940. Ida married Kenneth Hebeler in 1952. They had five children, Steven, Ronald, Janet, Rick, and Penny. Ida worked at Thomson schools for over twenty years including the opening of the ECO Center. Prior to working at Thomson High School, she worked for the City of Savanna and the Electric Company.

Ida Hebeler will be dearly missed by her two daughters; Janet Hebeler of Hanford, California, and Penny (Jack) Schlanser of Indianapolis, Indiana; one daughter in-law, Pam Hebeler of Fulton, Illinois; one granddaughter, Emily (Kyle) Ambroso; two grandsons, Chris (Tara) Hebeler, and Martey Hebeler; two great grandsons, Arnie Ambroso and Zander Hebeler; and one great granddaughter, Hailey Hebeler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; three sons, Rick, Ronald, and Steven Hebeler, and 7 sisters and 3 brothers.

Ida enjoyed being active. She was delivering meals-on-wheels in her 80’s to people much younger than her. She also volunteered at the local thrift shop in Savanna that helped provide household goods and utility payment assistance to people in need in Carroll County. She loved to garden and maintained a beautiful lawn and flower beds at her home. She also had a love for animals and enjoyed the many dogs and cats the family raised over the years.
