Hubert "Wimpy" Roy Robinson, age 86, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa following an extended illness. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna with Father Dennis Atto as Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2007, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Wimpy’s name.

Wimpy was born May 22, 1921 the son of George and Elizabeth (Smith) Robinson in Miles, Iowa. He graduated from Sabula High School, Class of 1939. On September 10, 1946, Wimpy married Germaine Heitkamp in Menominee, Illinois.
Wimpy retired from the Savanna Army Depot. He owned "Wimpy’s Mobil Service Station" and "Robinson’s DX Service Station" in Savanna. He was also a retired Savanna Township Supervisor.

Wimpy was a member St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, belonged to the Savanna Knights of Columbus since 1959 and was a 3rd and 4th Degree Knight, a member of the Savanna Moose Lodge #1095 since 1958 and a past member of the Savanna Chamber of Commerce. He very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing for relaxation and dancing.

Wimpy will be dearly missed by his wife, Germaine of Savanna; two sons, William (Diane) Robinson of Savanna and Thomas (Joy) Robinson of Waukesha, Wisconsin; one daughter, Joyce (Tom) Tegler of Albany, Illinois; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, George W. Robinson of Sabula, Iowa; two sisters, Helen Brooks of Clinton, Iowa and Betty (Victor) Brundage of Sabula.

Wimpy was preceded in death by his parents.
