Howard H. Koltz

Howard H. Koltz, age 94, of Elizabeth, Illinois, formerly of Downers Grove, Illinois, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Zion Presbyterian Church, Schapville, Illinois, with Rev. Dottie Morizzo officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday, November 28. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to FHN Hospice or Grand View Estates Assisted Living in Elizabeth.
Howard was born March 14, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George C. and Maria (Bastian) Koltz. He graduated from Oak Park - River Forrest High School with the Class of 1933. Howard was married to Jane Hill on November 24, 1937, in Maywood, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2005.
Howard worked as the Director of Sales & Engineering in the Electro/Motive Department of General Motors, retiring in 1974. Howard and Jane lived in Downers Grove, Illinois, until moving to a farm near Schapville in 1975. Howard was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Schapville, the Elizabeth Lions Club, and was a 15 year member of the Downers Grove School Board. He enjoyed golf, fishing, horseshoes, and bridge. Howard cherished the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Richard) Norman of Elizabeth, Illinois; one son, Adam B.G. (Voege Ette) Koltz of Encinitas, California; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and many very good friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife Jane; four sisters, Hazel, Leona, Mildred, and Clara; and four brothers, George, Victor, Leroy, and Wilbur.
