Herbert Blendon “Herb” Law, age 68, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Monday, August 28, 2006 at home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2006 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in Oakville Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Reverend Dave Davies of Hope United Methodist Church, Chadwick, Illinois will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the Funeral Home. A Memorial fund has been established.
Herb was born April 8, 1938, the son of Blendon W. and Thelma A. (Toepfer) Law in Freeport, Illinois. He attended Mt. Carroll High School, graduating Class of 1956.
Herb served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960. On June 3, 1962 Herb married Janice C. Rahn in Chadwick, Illinois.
Herb farmed and raised Purebred Angus “Nachco Angus” near Mt. Carroll for many years. He also owned and operated a Ford Dealership in Savanna from 1978 to 1981. Herb was a member of the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church, the PCA board, Past President of the Lions Club, a past member of the Mt. Carroll School Board and the Carroll County Board, a member of the Livestock Feeders Association. Herb loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, boating, RVing and after retirement collecting antique cars.
Herb will be dearly missed by his wife, Janice of Mt. Carroll; three daughters, Nadine (Roger) Renfro of Vancouver, Washingon, Christine (Tom) Sears of Geneseo, Illinois and Colline (Matt) Gusse of Dixon, Illinois; his mother, Thelma McCall of Savanna; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Ginger) Law of Mt. Carroll and Gerald Law of Springfield, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, Blendon Law.
