Helen Caroline (Geronsin) Mohr, age 83, of Preston, Iowa died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 9 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston, with Reverend Gregory Geier officiating. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery, Preston, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. A memorial fund has been established in Helen’s name.
Helen was born August 23, 1922 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Christian and Anna (Willadsen) Geronsin. She graduated from Fenton High School, Fenton, Iowa, Class of 1940 and from Jane Lamb School of Nursing Clinton, Iowa September 28, 1943. Helen married Melvin Mohr on Oct. 10, 1943 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa.
Helen was a Registered Nurse at Jackson County Hospital, Maquoketa and Mercy Hospital, Clinton, Iowa. She enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren, watching sports and reading.
Helen will be dearly missed by her son Gary (Julie) Mohr of Coralville, Iowa; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Whitney Mohr, Coralville, Iowa. Daughter in law, Rhonda Vinet, grandsons Brad (Jessica) Mohr and Tony (Kathy) Mohr and step grandson Gregory Vinet, all of Littleton, Co. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Madaline, Ryan Joseph and Camryn Mohr.
She was preceded in death by husband Melvin, son Ronald and brothers Russell, Harold and Rolin Geronsin.
