Helen Ione (Kingery) Fritz

Helen Ione (Kingery) Fritz, age 86, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Helen's memory to the Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll.
Helen was born July 21, 1926 in Salem Township, the daughter of Charles and Elfreda (Wenzel) Kingery. She was a graduate of the Mt. Carroll High School Class of 1943.
On November 26th, 1952, Helen married Ronald Fritz in the Mt. Carroll United Methodist parsonage. They shared sixty years together. Helen enjoyed her life as a homemaker and as a farmer's wife. She enjoyed gardening, freezing and canning, and cooking. Helen loved to go square dancing with Ronald. Before she married, Helen worked at the Mt. Carroll National Bank for eight years.
Helen was the keeper of the family tree and family history, gathering and sharing historical information and old photos, and following up on genealogy leads. Helen enjoyed membership in the Carroll Chapter NSDAR and in the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed her neighborhood club, the Freedom Township Homemaker's Circle.
Helen loved to travel. She took memorable trips with siblings and friends after high school. Later, after raising her children, Helen continued her travels with Ronald, setting foot in 48 of the 50 states (all but Hawaii and Delaware) and also traveling to South America and to Europe.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald; two sons, Stanley Fritz and Rodney (Cheri) Fritz; daughter, Roxann (Gerald) Specht; five grandchildren, Austin Fritz, Casey Fritz, Andrew Specht, Mark Specht, and Elizabeth Specht; one brother, Charles (Beverly) Kingery; and two sisters, Ruth (Glen) Pauley, and Gene (Robert) Hoak. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Fern Henry; and her daughter in-law, Linda Fritz.
