Helen J. Hermanek, age 97, passed away peacefully at home in rural Hanover, IL on January 31, 2022. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on January 17, 1925 to parents Philbrook H. and Mildred I. (Skiff) Junkins.
After graduating East Aurora High School, Helen entered nurses training at St. Charles Hospital in Aurora, where she met her husband, Frank. They were united in marriage on February 15, 1947 at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church in Aurora, and spent 68 happy years together.
After lovingly raising their seven children, Helen renewed her nursing skills while working at Hillside Nursing Home in Yorkville, IL for 17 years.
After retiring, Helen and Frank relocated to Bella Vista, AR where Helen was able to express her numerous artistic talents. She was especially skilled in tole painting and pressed flower creations.
Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is reunited in heaven with her husband Frank; her parents; her son, Mike; grandson, Jonathan Rickerl; brothers Hoyt and Jack Junkins; and sister, Mildred (Mickey) Christiansen.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Judy Fairchild, Hanover, IL, Linda Hastert, Oswego, IL, Kathy (John) Wallanches, Hanover, IL, Ann Cremeens, Olympia, WA. Debbie (Gary) Reidelberger, Springfield, IL, and Phil (Christina) Hermanek, Springfield, IL; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Phil (Donna) Junkins, Big Bear Lake, CA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Bristol, IL beside her husband, Frank. A celebration of life, cremation rites accorded, will be held on a later date for family and close friends.
