Heather Eileen Spanogle, age 36, of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died Friday, September 30, 2005 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the United Methodist Church, Mt. Carroll. Interment will take place at the Oakville Cemetery, rural Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Heather was born February 24, 1969 in Freeport, Illinois, the daughter of David and Carolyn Spanogle. She attended Bethel Christian High School in Dixon, Illinois and graduated from Rockford Lutheran School, Rockford, Illinois, Class of 1987. Following graduation from high school, Heather attended Highland College, North Central College, College of DuPage, and Wheaton Conservatory of Music. During her college years she studied early childhood development, but most importantly she studied voice and theatre. Heather loved singing and performing for others. Heather participated in 14 productions at Timberlake Playhouse. She enjoyed singing Broadway show tunes. Among her favorites were Music Man, Oklahoma!, and Big River. Heather gave the gift of hope to cancer patients through tissue and organ donation. Heather donated her time to various charities, usually with young children in mind. She and her mother sent aid packages to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and toys to children following the terrorist attack in New York City in 2001. Heather sent cards and letters to soldiers in the Armed Forces. Heather also enjoyed reading, children literature, closely watching current events on television, wildlife, and dogs.
Heather will be deeply missed by her mother, Carolyn Getz of Mt. Carroll; two brothers, Jerrod (Michelle) Getz of Savanna, IL and Ryan (Sandra) Getz of Lostant, IL; her three nieces, Gaia, Irie, and Sophia; her aunt, Camilla Mackay of Milwaukee, WI; and her uncle, Dave (Kay) Mackay of Vancouver, WA. She is preceded in death by her father, David Spanogle; her stepfather Wayne Getz; and her grandparents.
