Harry L. Bousman, age 89, of Savanna, Illinois, died Monday, November 10, 2008, at the Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Savanna. Burial will follow in the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 9 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the Church. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Savanna, or to the Family in Harry’s memory.
Harry was born May 20, 1919, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Edward and Ida (Denny) Bousman. He attended the Walnut Grove School. He lived most of his life in Savanna where he had many friends and was always close to his family. Harry proudly served in the United States Army during World War II.
Harry worked at the Savanna Ordinance Depot for thirty-three years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Savanna First United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion in Savanna and was a member of NARFE, a civil service organization. Harry love watching the eagle’s fly near the Mississippi River, was a country music fan, and loved being with his family.
Harry is survived by one brother, Robert (Lena) Stenback of Freeport, Illinois; six nieces and nephews, Carol (David) Guss of Rock Island, Illinois, Jack (Gloria) Stenback of Kingman, Arizona, Randall (Joyce) Stenback of German Valley, Illinois, Fran (Ed) Hamilton of Caneyville, Kentucky, Roxanne Bousman of Milan, Illinois, and Debi Stenback of Freeport, Illinois; seventeen great nieces and nephews, twenty – six great great – nieces and nephews, and nine great – great – great – nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John "Ed" Bousman and William Cecil "Billy" Bousman, one niece and one great niece.
