Harrison Cummings

Harrison Cummings, age 92, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Harrison was born July 4, 1925, in Lincoln, Illinois, son of Harrison and Myrl (Hasenmyer) Cummings. He attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the Class of 1943. Harrison proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, earning the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. On March 15, 1947, Harrison married June Knochel. They raised four daughters and celebrated 63 years of marriage until June’s death in 2010.

Harrison managed Johnson Feed in Mt. Carroll for over 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards.

Harrison will be dearly missed by three daughters, Jeanne (Dennis) Williamson of Belvidere, Illinois, Vicki Cummings of Rockford, Illinois and Penny (Scott) Krum of Stratford, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, John Cummings of Dewey, Illinois, and a sister, Betty Williams of Bloomington, Illinois.

Harrison is preceded in death by his wife, June; one daughter, Linda McCuskey, a brother, Sam Cummings, and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Cummings.
