Harriett W. Mackeprang, age 84, of rural Sabula, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2006 at Mercy Medical Health Center, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2006 at Miller Law Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Reverend Karl Goodfellow of Preston United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2006 at the Miller Law Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Harriett was born in Countyline, Iowa on June 18, 1922, the daughter of Bruce H. and Flossie (Erb) Kelley. She was the Salutatorian of the class of 1939 at the Mile’s High School, Miles, Iowa. She received a teaching certificate at the Iowa State Teacher’s College, Cedar Falls, Iowa and went on to teach three years at a rural school. On July 20, 1943 Harriett married Wayne W. Mackeprang in Clinton, Iowa. She had also worked at Schick Hospital Clinton Iowa during World War II.
Harriet was a member of the Miles United Methodist Church, the Mercy Medical Auxiliary, the Elk River Township Homemakers, and the Miles American Legion Auxiliary. Harriet enjoyed working with flowers, reading, traveling and most of all spending time with her family.
Harriett will be dearly missed by her husband Wayne Mackeprang of rural Sabula; three daughters, Linda Kay (Burt) Pearl of Sedgwick, Maine, Susan Diane Brown of Tomah, Wisconsin and Peggy June (Patrick) Kedley of Lowden, Iowa; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Hammond of Moline, Illinois, Kathleen (Philip) Beal of Holland, Michigan and Judy (Werner) Paulsen of Moline, Illinois; and two sister-in-laws Jeanette Kelley of Augusta Georgia, and Lois Kelley of Clinton, Iowa,
Harriett is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Conard and Darwin Kelley.
