Harold William “Bud” Rogers, age 92 of Mt. Carroll, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll with Reverend Elizabeth Mascal officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Military Rites will be accorded by the Mt. Carroll American Legion Post #67. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll.
Harold was born December 23, 1918 in Mt. Carroll, the son of Harry and Cora (Hartman) Rogers. He attended Mt. Carroll Schools. Harold later served in the US Army 91st Medical Batalion During WWII. On June 27, 1942, Harold married Dorothy Smith. They have celebrated sixty-nine years.
Harold worked as a truck driver at the Savanna Army Depot for thirty-three years. He also worked for R & I Construction for ten years. Harold was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mt. Carroll; Mt. Carroll Lions Club; American Legion Post #67; and a member of NARFE #604. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling and most of all his family.
Harold will be dearly missed by his wife, Dorothy of Mt. Carroll; two daughters, Linda (Roy) Rathje of Thomson and Judy (Dan) Oberg of Dixon; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Dykstra of Morrison. Harold is preceded in death by four sisters, Grace Ritenour, Helen Dykstra, Edna Buxton Boerma, Mary Edmonds and three brothers, Kenneth, Donald, Paul.
