Harold "Buck" Shores

Harold “Buck” Clyde Shores, age 88 of Savanna, Illinois, died on January 1, 2015 at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with Father Dennis Atto as officiant. A memorial fund has been established in Buck's memory.
Buck was born on April 29, 1926, the son of Burrell and Maude (Wilson) Shores in Stockton, Illinois. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. While enlisted, Buck was stationed aboard the USS Pavlic (APD-70). Buck married Mildred “Jimmie” L. Collins on November 1, 1947 in the St. John Baptist Catholic Church Rectory, Savanna.
Buck worked at the Savanna Army Depot as an Ammunition Inspector in 1969, retiring in 1986. Buck enjoyed golfing and traveling to every state in the U.S., especially to visit his son, Paul. He took every chance he could to visit with Navy buddies and with the guys at the Sandbar Cafe and the Kountry Kettle.
Buck will be dearly missed by his wife, Mildred of Savanna; and one son, Paul Griffin Shores of McCall, Idaho. Buck was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Kent Shores; one brother, Burrell Shores; and one sister in-law, Marilyn Shores.
