Harold D. Rayhorn

Harold D. Rayhorn, age 89, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at the Morgan Memorial Nursing Home, Stockton, Illinois. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2006 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the family in Harold’s name.

Harold was born February 15, 1916, the son of William J. and Ethel I. (Walters) Rayhorn, in Oneco, Illinois. On November 11, 1960 Harold married Elizabeth "Goldhagen" Wand in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Elizabeth. She passed away on March 29, 2001.

Harold owned and operated a farm in rural Elizabeth. After retiring he moved into Elizabeth proper. He was a member of the Elizabeth Fire Department for twenty-one years and will always be an Honorary Member. Harold was a member of the Jo Daviess Farm Bureau.

Harold enjoyed a daily drive around town and a cup of coffee at J.J.’s Restaurant in Elizabeth.

Harold is survived by two sisters, Kate Breed of Elizabeth and Roberta Corlis of Clinton, Iowa; six step-children, Alvin (Pat) Wand of Charleston, South Carolina, Wayne (JoAnn) Wand, Dale Wand, Robert Wand, Mary Lou (Jim) Schaible all of Elizabeth, and Judy (Harvey) McGivney of Stockton, Illinois; thirty-two step-grandchildren and many step-great grandchildren.

Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; two brothers, Kenneth and William "Bill" Rayhorn; one stepson, William "Willy" Wand.
