Harold Miller age 87, of Elizabeth, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Massbach, Illinois. Burial will take place in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Massbach. A visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Memorials may be given in Harold’s memory.
Harold was born December 7, 1928 in Woodland Township rural Elizabeth, Illinois, the son of John and Carolin (Klopf) Miller. He attended Zion Country School, through eighth grade. Harold drove a livestock truck into Chicago, Illinois for many years. He was a life-long farmer and in his younger years he farmed with his dad. On September 30, 1952, Harold married the love of his life Phyllis Jean Randecker. They celebrated 56 years together.
Harold was a life-long member of the Farm Bureau and served on the Board for 30 years, he also served on the Swiss Valley Farms Advisory Board. Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing. Harold and Jean enjoyed traveling in their motor home, playing cards with family and friends. Harold and Jean took a dance class for their 35th wedding anniversary and continued dancing for years to come. Harold will be remembered as a quiet and compassionate man.
Harold is survived by his sons, Larry (Eva) Miller of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Russell (Terrie) Miller of Savanna; two grandsons, Kurtis and Michael Miller; two step-granddaughters Andrea Jones, Katarina Pierce; three step-great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jean.
