Gwendolyn Thiede

Gwendolyn Corrine Thiede, age 78, of Preston, Iowa died on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. Burial will take place in Preston Cemetery, Preston. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016, prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Preston Ambulance Association, St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Preston Library or the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Gwendolyn’s memory.
Gwen was a renaissance woman, best friend, confidant, baby whisperer, avid card player and sports fan. With the College Championship Bowl Game tied 9 minutes before half time, Gwen passed peacefully. We are given great comfort to know that mom has joined dad (Harris) the love of her life and favorite dance partner in the heavenly ballroom.
Gwen was the loving mother of Victoria (Dave) Knipper, Marion, Audrey (Erich) Spangenberg, Dallas and Barbara (David) Michel, Preston; Grandmother to Andrew Knipper, Christian Spangenberg, Branden and Keaton Michel and Big Sis to Stuart (Mary) Miller, Cedar Rapids and Patty (Pat) Schultz, Clinton.
