Gregory Lee Willis

Gregory Lee Willis, 50 of McAlester, Oklahoma died September 15, 2005 in McAlester. Gregory was born to Donald I. and Vernice M. (Lane) Willis August 28, 1955 in Peoria, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1977. He began his Federal career as an Industrial Engineer for the U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center (DAC) in August of 1977. In his most recent position as Chief of DAC’s Transportation Engineering Division, he led a group of engineers responsible for a multitude of projects, producing ammunition procedural drawing, and providing technical assistance for military installations around the world. Greg married Diane Madeja May 26, 1979 in Lemont, Illinois. He lived in Savanna, Illinois from 1958 until moving to McAlester in 1998. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in McAlester, Oklahoma.

Gregory is survived by his wife Diane; two daughters, Jennifer Willis and Beth Willis of McAlester; sister Jorene Lieb and husband Joseph and their children, Jacob, Joy and Julia all of Galena, Illinois; brother, Richard Willis and children, Ian, Faye Reinhardt and husband Luke, and Kirk of Clinton, Iowa; mother-in-law, Regina Madeja; sister-in-law Nancy Shively and husband Robert and children, Amanda and Patrick all of Shorewood, Illinois; sister-in-law, Audrey Helix and husband Max and children, Max and Michael of Newbury Park, California; brother-in-law James Madeja and wife Tamara and children, Thomas, Steven and Mary; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Vernice Willis; father-in-law, Thomas Madeja, many Aunts and Uncles.

Visitation will be 4-9:00 PM Tuesday September 20, 2005 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois. Scripture wake will be 8:00 PM Tuesday at Law-Jones Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday September 21, 2005 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna, Illinois. Burial will be Thursday, September 22, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna, Illinois.
