Gloria M. Thompson, 84, of East Moline, formerly of Savanna, IL, died early Saturday, Sept. 15, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Services will be held at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will take place in the Savanna Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family or the Alzheimer's Association.
Gloria Mae Norton was born April 15, 1928, in Savanna, the daughter of Luella Pankow and John Norton. She married Franklyn W. Thompson Sr. on Dec. 1, 1946. He died March 3, 1992.
She worked for 21 years at Savanna City Hospital, mainly as a nurse's aide. She enjoyed country music, her pets and puttering in her garden.
Survivors include four children: Franklyn Jr. (Stella), Salinas, Calif.; Linda (Gordon) Nelson, Moline; Julie Cox, East Moline; and John (Kara), Austin, Texas.; nine grandchildren: Penny (Kenny) Riberal, Randy (Lindsey) Nelson, Christy Leitzen, Melanie O'Brien, Jana (Ryan) Veloz, Raney Skye Cox, Keely "KC" Cox, Giana Thompson and Nathan Thompson; and nine great-grandchildren.
