Gloria Ann Bahr, age 83 of Preston, Iowa passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 at her home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston. Burial will take place in Spragueville Cemetery, Spragueville, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, November 29, 2010 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston with a Scripture Wake Service being held at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in Gloria’s memory. Gloria was born on October 31, 1927, the daughter of Alfred and Lucille (Brown) Budde at their home in rural Maquoketa, Iowa. She graduated from Maquoketa High School with the Class of 1945. Gloria attended Clinton Beauty Academy and later Clinton Community College, where she received training as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Gloria was married to Harold P. McCutcheon and later married LaVern R. Bahr on February 4, 1964. Gloria first worked as a switchboard operator for the Maquoketa Telephone Company. She then owned and operated Gloria’s Beauty Shop in Preston for over seventeen years. After her beauty shop, Gloria worked for several companies including: Eaton Corporation, Savanna, the Swift Company and Wesco both in Clinton, Iowa and Hoof Products in Maquoketa, Iowa. Gloria also used her C.N.A. License to help with in-home care, all before retiring in 1996. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston, where she attended a C.E.W. Workshop. Gloria enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Texas. Most of all, Gloria loved spending time with her children and babysitting her grandchildren.Gloria will be dearly missed by her children, Connie (Jeff) Johnson of Spragueville, Iowa, Terese (Jim) Berthel of Bellevue, Iowa, Dwaine (Judy) McCutcheon of Clarkston, Michigan and Karen (John) Gibbs of Spragueville, Iowa; four step-daughters, Nancy Gravert of Morrison, Illinois, Mary Jane (Richard) Dimmer of Elvira, Iowa, Julie (Ed) Walker of Aberdeen, North Carolina and Barbara (Mike) O‘Gara of Davenport, Iowa; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three sisters, Patricia (Al) Marcil of Omaha, Nebraska, Joyce McAndrew of Maquoketa and Mary Karen (Gerald) Farrell of Delmar, Iowa. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern Bahr; two sons, William and Mark McCutcheon ; two brothers, Bill Budde and one infant brother; and three sisters, Doris Dutton, Yvonne Hunter and twin sister, JoAnn Irwin.
