Glen A. Heisler

December 19, 1949 — November 9, 2016

Glen A. Heisler, age 66, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Mount Carroll Church of God. Burial will take place in Center Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll with full Military Rites provided by the Mt. Carroll American Legion. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon prior to the service at the Church.
Glen was born on December 19, 1949 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Alan and Hazel (Smith) Heisler. He attended Mt. Carroll High School, graduating with the Class of 1968. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971. Glen married Pam Grenoble on October 23, 1976 in Mt. Carroll.
Glen worked at Heisler Stone Quarries and Fisher Quarries for 40 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He also was Road Commissioner for Mt. Carroll, retiring in November. He was a member of the Mt. Carroll Church of God and the Mt. Carroll American Legion Post #67. Glen enjoyed bowling, trapshooting, watching sports and attending his kids’ and grandkids’ sports events. He also loved riding his Harley, helping his dad work on John Deere tractors and fixing and repairing what’s needed. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Glen will be dearly missed by his wife of 40 years, Pam; his father, Alan; one son, Greggory Heisler of Mt. Carroll; two daughters, Jennifer Heisler and Laura (Justin) Knutti, both of Mt. Carroll; five grandchildren, Katie, Alyson, Devin, Rylee and Hannah; one brother, Edward (Arnette) Heisler of Mt. Carroll, and a sister, Janet (Delbert) Hockman of Mt. Carroll.
Glen is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel; mother-in-law, Betty Grenoble; brother-in-law, Larry Grenoble, and his grandparents.
