Glen Emery Albrecht, age 97, of Elizabeth, Illinois went to his heavenly home Thursday, October 30, 2014 in Elizabeth. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, Illinois, with a visitation being held for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Woodbine, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. A memorial fund has been established in Glen’s memory for Faith Lutheran Church. Family and friends are invited to share in Glen’s life at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com .
Glen was born August 30, 1917, the son of Jacob and Emma (Reusch) Albrecht in Massbach, Illinois. He attended country schools near Massbach. On June 14, 1947, Glen married the love of his life, Viola Knutti, in Hanover, Illinois. Glen owned and operated Albrecht Brothers with his brother Art, where they sold John Deere equipment. Later, Glen owned Albrecht Construction.
Glen was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Elizabeth and was very active in the church that he helped construct. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, walnuts and making wine. Most of all, he treasured the time that he spent with his family and friends.
Glen will be dearly missed by his wife of sixty-seven years, Viola of Elizabeth; two sons, Bruce (Nancy) Albrecht of Miami, Florida, Dennis (Denise) Albrecht of Stockton, Illinois; two daughters, Carol (Larry) Elliott of Elizabeth, Barbara (Jerry) Hatfield of Dixon, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren. Glen is preceded in death by his three brothers Helmer, Art and Lester.
