Geraldine Shamp age 86, of Savanna, Illinois passed away Monday, March 09, 2015 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Clinton, Iowa. Burial will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Geraldine was born on November 13, 1928 in Evanston, Wyoming, the daughter of Franklin A. and Gladys L. (Helvey) Marsh. On March 30, 1947, Geraldine married the love of her life Robert Parrie Shamp in Superior, Wyoming. Robert passed away November 2, 1998 in Savanna. Geraldine co-owned the Zip-Inn in Savanna in the 1960’s. She later went to work at Big Meadows Nursing Home with the Recreational Activities.
Geraldine was a member of TOPS and a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a veracious reader and enjoyed needlework and crafts. Most of all Geraldine treasured the time she spent with her family and church friends.
Geraldine will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Barbara (Glen) Ogles of Elijay, Georgia, Robin (Danny) Green of Savanna; one son, Michael Shamp of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; twenty-one grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Franklin Marsh of West Valley City, Utah, Chester Marsh of Rexburg, Idaho; two sisters, Stephanie Tatafu of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dorothy Wilson of Rogers, Arkansas. Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband; two sons, David and Larry; one daughter, Francine Molitor; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Earl and Harold; three sisters, Marian, Marilyn and Carol Jean.
