Gerald Eugene "Gerry" Garvey

Gerald Eugene “Gerry” Garvey, age 57, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at home. A Memorial Service is being held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Father Moises Apostol will officiate. Inurnment is being held in Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A Memorial Fund is being established in honor of Gerry. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2006 at the Funeral Home.
Gerry was born July 7, 1948 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Richard and Gene (Rooney) Garvey. He attended school in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating in 1966. Gerry attended the University of Minnesota, School of Architecture in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He entered the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. On August 18, 1973, Gerry married Debbie Davis in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Gerry worked for the First National Bank of Savanna in maintenance. Prior to the bank, Gerry worked at the Savanna Army Depot in Ordinance Disposal; he also worked as a Supervisor for Swiss Colony Foods in Savanna. Gerry enjoyed woodworking, gardening and listening to music, especially Jazz.
Gerry will be dearly missed by his parents, Richard and Gene Garvey; his wife, Debbie of Savanna; one daughter, Alison (Darin) Garvey-Adams of Bettendorf, Iowa; one grandson, Andrew Ball of Bettendorf; four brothers, Rich Garvey, John Garvey, Jim Garvey and Tom Garvey, all of Twin Cities, Minnesota.
Gerry was preceded in death by his twin brother, Larry Garvey.
