Gerald Duane Bonjour, Sr.

Gerald “Jerry” Duane Bonjour, Sr., age 74, of Savanna, Illinois, passed into the loving arms of Christ, peacefully at home Saturday, July 27, 2013. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Teresa Jo Bonjour of Savanna; a son, Gerald Michael Bonjour of San Diego, California; a daughter, Jackie Bonjour of Hazel Green, Wisconsin; a step-son, Casey Coleman of Mt. Carroll; a step-daughter, Wendy Hatheway of Savanna; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Kimberly and Chloe; and a brother, Pete (Connie) Bonjour of Tuelle, Utah.
Jerry was born October 16, 1938 in Mt. Carroll. Illinois, the son of Elden and Dorothy (Neuschwanger) Bonjour. He attended Mt. Carroll Schools. Jerry served in the United States Navy for six years, serving on the USS Smalley, USS Hawkins, USS Hailey and the USS Forrest Sherman. On December 31, 1997, Jerry married Teresa Hatheway in Mt. Carroll.
Jerry worked as a Boiler Plant Operator at the Savanna Army Depot for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1999. He had served as a Volunteer Fireman for the City of Hanover. Jerry loved the outdoor life! He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Shannon Baptist Church.
