George William St. Clair, age 73 of Savanna and Rochelle, Illinois died on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Kindred Hospital, Sycamore, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Pastor Michael Wey of the First Presbyterian Church, Savanna will officiate. Burial will be held in the Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in George’s memory.
George was born on June 28, 1926, the son of Benjamin “Benny” and Mary (Foster) St. Clair in Jonesboro, Illinois. He attended school in Savanna and graduated from Savanna High School. After graduation, George served his country in the United States Air Force. George worked for Swift Meat Packing Company and also worked in Construction while living in Rochelle. He enjoyed baseball and completing puzzle books.
George will be missed by one sister, Glenna (Floyd) Griffith of Nashville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
