George Albert Plosch, age 93, of Derinda Township, Illinois, died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Derinda Township, Illinois. Reverend Kurt Hansen will officiate. Burial will take place in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Derinda Township. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the Hanover VFW Post #5300, Hanover, Illinois. Visitation will be Tuesday evening May 16, 2006 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth, Illinois and one hour prior to service time on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at the church. The family requested that memorials be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Derinda Twp. in memory of George.
George was born November 3, 1912 in Derinda Township, Illinois, the son of John and Anna (Wurster) Plosch. He attended country schools and was never married.
George worked along with his brother on the family farm most of his life in rural Elizabeth, Illinois and was the Highway Commissioner for Derinda Township for approximately 30 years. He thoroughly enjoyed doing mechanical work on machinery greatly benefiting his work on the family grain and livestock farm. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Derinda Township where he was confirmed and baptized in his youth. George liked all kinds of sports and especially enjoyed baseball. During World War II, he served in the United States Army in the Field Artillery Division with the 26th Infantry Division in the European Theatre and also at the Battle of the Bulge. George was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post # 5300 of Hanover, Illinois
Survivors include three nieces; Lavonne Feltmeyer of Stockton, Illinois, Joyce Fosler of Freeport, Illinois, and Eileen Strohecker of Pearl City, Illinois, six great nephews and five great nieces. He is also survived by his care giver Lorraine Eastman of rural Hanover, Illinois
George is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wallace and Edward; and five sisters, Josephine Teichler, Regina Thompson, Alma Block, Leone Mullen, and Matilda Marisse; two nephews, Ron Plosch and Wayne Block.
