George F. Murray, age 70, of Elizabeth, Illinois, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, died on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. Local visitation will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009, from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the Law - Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. Visitation will then be held on Friday, October 23, from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the Willow Funeral Home, 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., Algonquin, Illinois. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntley, Illinois.
George was born on April 4, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George Ernest and Alice (Van Marm) Murray. He attended the Moose Grammar School in Chicago, and the Washburn Trade School. George served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. George worked as a Postman in Chicago for thirty one years in the Logan Square Neighborhood.
George was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Elizabeth and the American Legion and VFW in Hanover, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, and going to Elvis Presley concerts.
George is survived by two sisters, Alice (Jerome) Wiecek of Huntley, Illinois, and Kathleen (Romer) Wilsek of Huntley; and was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Elsie Murray and Suzanne Bell; and two brothers, Daniel Murray and Donald Murray.
