George James Jacovides

March 10, 1988 — April 15, 2026

Milledgeville, Illinois

George was a devoted son, brother, and friend who carried a deep love of history, music, and his interest in Greek heritage. Born in Santa Rosa, California, the family moved to St. Simon's Island, Georgia when he was a toddler, and then onto Geneva, Illinois when he entered grade school. George grew up exploring coastlines, museums, and the stories of the past. George was very close with Jesus and prayed every day and Jesus was the main part of George's life.

A proud graduate of Marmion Academy in Aurora, Illinois (2016), George thrived in structured programs, enjoyed athletics, and stood out for this curiosity, strong writing, and willingness to speak up in class. George earned a full scholarship to the University of Illinois. George continued his studies and worked in Champaign - Urbana, compassionately caring for others, earning respect for his strength and dependability. He exemplified these traits while working to assist a quadriplegic Phd candidate with his everyday life skills. George later made his life in Milledgeville, Illinois close enough to have the support of his parents.

George loved music of all kinds and was his constant companion. George cherished travel, loved animals, and took pride in learning Greek heritage-often reading and sharing the language with joy. George faced real struggles in life but met many of them with courage and moments of triumph. George dealt with his struggles with humor and enjoyed watching comedy shows on television with his mom. Above all, George is remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the bright curiosity he brought to family, friends, and community.

George loved his pets to include fifteen year-old Chihuahua Gusto, seventeen year-old cat Boo-Boo, cat Ma-Ma who traveled in a car to California with George back in 2018 . Most recently, George was caring for a feral cat named Pee-Wee in Mount Carroll, Illinois, with his Mom and Dad. George appreciated helping animals and people. As a young student in middle school and high school, George volunteered at the local nursing homes in Geneva, Illinois talking with the residents and playing bingo with them.

More recently, George would visit the Lanark Coffee shop and enjoy the blueberry coffee. George brought a coffee back for his Mom and said he would buy mom another coffee in three weeks. He really enjoyed the coffee shop and the people in the shop. George also enjoyed food to include cooking when he could and going to Burger King and getting a vegetarian whopper, large fries and frozen coke with his father. With Georges condition, music soothed his mind and would listen to all music but really enjoyed rap and would respectfully keep the volume low.

Most importantly, George loved his family especially his mom, dad, sister, and god father Napolean Mitropolus and loved his cousins especially Peter and Alec Pieretti because they grew up together in Illinois and visited Greek Town frequently and traveled in the Green Machine (2001 van) which is still operating today. There are many memories of traveling around the country with Peter, Alec, George, and sister Jamie in the Green Machine.

George is survived by his Parents James and Joann Jacovides of Shannon, Illinois, his Sister Jamie Jacovides of Nine Miles Falls, Washington; God Father Napoleon Mitropoulos and spouse Halina of Chicago, Illinois; God Mother Marilynn Fikaris-Ulrich (spouse Thomas) of Connecticut, Uncle John Pieretti of South San Francisco, California and Aunt Joanne Jacovides of Santa Rosa, California and Aunt Kathy Jacovides of Windsor, California; Cousins Irene Van Riper and Jake Van Riper of Santa Rosa, California and Uncle John Pieretti of South San Francisco, California. There are many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins around the country and Europe who love George very much.

George Jacovides was preceded in death by grand parents George L. Pieretti of San Francisco, California, George J. Jacovides and Sophia Jacovides of Windsor, California and Uncle Alfred L. Pieretti and Uncle Joseph G. Pieretti.

George was very close to Jesus Christ and prayed every day so keep our son George Jacovides in your prayers always. We love you, George. May your memory be Eternal. Love Mom, Dad and Jamie.
