George Courtley

George A Courtley, age 76, of Mount Carroll, Illinois formerly of Darien, Illinois died on November 17, 2008, at Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at SS. John and Catherine Catholic Church in Mount Carroll, with Father Ray Ruppenkamp as Celebrant. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. A Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Memorials may be given to Timberlake Playhouse P.O. Box 29 Mt. Carroll, IL 61053 in George’s memory.

George was born March 25, 1932 in Lagrange, Illinois the son of Earl and Maria Cecelia (Patrone) Courtley. He attended Lyons Township High School graduating with the Class of 1950. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. George married Beverly Ann Markus May 28, 1955. George and Beverly moved to Mount Carroll in 1997.

George enjoyed creating art with stained glass. He was a member of Ss. John and Catherine Catholic Church in Mount Carroll, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a fourth degree. George loved riding his motorcycle.

George is survived by his wife, Beverly A. Courtley of Mount Carroll; a son, Lance Courtley of Florida.

George is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley; and brother, Parker.
