George Ryle Applegate

George Ryle Applegate, age 73, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Thursday, December 2, 2010, at his home in Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at the Cherry Grove Church in rural Lanark, Illinois, with Rev. Robert Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanark Cemetery, Lanark. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. George was born October 9, 1937, in Shannon, Illinois, the son of William and Fern (Finifrock) Applegate. He married Elaine Stebbins on June 22, 1982. She preceded him in death on December 4, 1991. George was a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing. George is survived and lovingly remembered by two sisters, Lorna Applegate and Marliss Bonnell; one brother, Ellis (Linda) Applegate; four grandchildren, Lanette (Brian) Robson, Rebecca (Joe) Kubly, Chase Applegate, & Derrick Applegate and three great grandchildren Tyler, Evan & Bayley; and many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elaine; two sons, Mark in infancy, and Dale; and one sister, Merna Fern in infancy.
