Genevieve "Sally" Kuhl

Genevieve M. "Sally" Kuhl, age 89, of Miles, Iowa died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Preston, Iowa, with Father Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in the Miles Cemetery, Miles, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Preston. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A general memorial fund has been established in Sally's memory.
Sally was born July 15, 1917 in Sprague, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harold G. and Kathryn G. (Nichols) Yates. She graduated from Miles High School with the class of 1935. Sally also attended the Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Sally married Raymond A. Kuhl on September 23, 1939, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Preston, Iowa. Ray and Sally recently celebrated their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary.
Sally operated Sally's Beauty Shop for over sixty years. She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Preston, Iowa. Sally was involved in the Miles Literacy Club; the American Legion Auxillary and the Past President's Club of Miles, Iowa.
Sally will be missed by her husband, Raymond Kuhl of Miles, Iowa; one son, Philip (Barbara) Kuhl of Morton, Illinois; six daughters, Kathleen (Mike) Shannon of Clinton, Iowa, Mary (Lou) Tietjens of Claremont, Florida, Julie (Dennis) Streets of Maquoketa, Iowa, Janice Kuhl of Ankeny, Iowa, Diane Kuhl of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Patrice (Marc) Ramsey of Lakeside, Texas; one sister, Shirley (Wayne) Daniels of Miles, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Sally was preceded in death by one brother, Arden; and two grandsons, David and Tim.
