Genevieve Virginia Bailey, age 90, of Savanna, Illinois, died Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna with Reverend Thomas Moe of the First United Methodist Church, Savanna, officiating. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.
Genevieve was born April 13, 1915 in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Alvin and Mettie (Lego) Garrow. She attended Savanna and Hanover Schools. She worked as a Customer Service Agent for Central Telephone Company and later Sprint in Savanna, retiring in 1977.
Genevieve was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Savanna, and the Savanna Women of the Moose since 1945. She enjoyed quilting, making porcelain dolls, sewing, handiwork and word puzzles.
Genevieve will be deeply missed by two sons, Wesley Bailey of Savanna and Richard (Ramona) Bailey of Savanna; her daughter, Patsy Raab of Clinton, Iowa; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Wallat of Racine, Wisconsin.
Genevieve is preceded in death by both parents; an infant grandson; a sister, Bernice Wacker; and a son-in-law, William Raab.
