Geneva Hunt

Geneva Elizabeth Hunt, age 98, of Hanover, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Hanover United Methodist Church, Hanover with Reverend Ken Matthews officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Geneva’s memory.

Geneva was born in Elizabeth, Illinois on March 2, 1910 to Henry and Florence (Hitt) Mest. She graduated from Hanover High School with the Class of 1928. Geneva married Ordrey Hunt February 4, 1929 in Dubuque, Iowa. Ordrey passed away on January 19, 1977.

Geneva worked as a clerk during the 1940’s and 1950’s for Bray’s Grocery Store and later Graham Grocery Store in Hanover. She was a longtime member of Hanover United Methodist Church. Geneva enjoyed gardening, cooking and having Sunday dinners with friends and family. She and Ordrey enjoyed dancing and attending many social events. Geneva also loved spending time at their cottage on the Mississippi River.

Geneva is survived by one son, Ramon “Ray” Hunt of Hanover. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ordrey.
