Geneva D. Bahr 84, of Spragueville, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2006 at the Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville, Iowa. Burial will take place in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Spragueville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2006 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa.
Geneva was born on November 11, 1921, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Buschmann) Bahr in Spragueville, Iowa. She attended Fairfield #4 School in Spragueville, and attended Preston High School graduating Class of 1939. She also attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa for two years.
Geneva worked for Civil Service retiring in 1985. She spent time working at the
United States Naval Reserve Center in San Pedro, California; the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Waukegan, Illinois and the Naval Operational Logistics Center in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville; the Women of WELCA and current Secretary; and the Jackson County Regional Health Center Auxiliary. Geneva enjoyed traveling all fifty States, Mexico, Canada and Europe; going out to Dinner and Theater; bowling, golfing and supporting the Jackson County, Iowa Historical Society; the Putnam Museum in Davenport, Iowa, the Hoover Library and Museum in West Branch, Iowa; and the Plus 60’s Club of Davenport, Iowa. Geneva is survived by her twin sister, Geraldine Lambert of Spragueville; one nephew Earl Kemp of Spragueville; one niece Shirley Ann (Michael) Frett of Cape Coral, Florida; one great nephew Daniel Frett of Orlando, Florida; and cousins.
Geneva is preceded in death by her parents; and one sister Maribel Kemp.
