Gayle I. Yenney, age 91, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Memorials may be given to Shriners Hospital for Children-Chicago in Gayle’s memory.
Gayle was born on May 19, 1926, the daughter of Leroy and Mabel (Brunner) Schubert in Pleasant Valley Township, Jo Daviess County. Gayle married Clarence A. Yenney on April 13, 1946 in Mt. Carroll. Clarence died on February 22, 1998 in Mt. Carroll.
Gayle was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. She was a caring and compassionate person who enjoyed helping others. Gayle worked as a Nurse’s Aid and in the cafeteria at the Lincoln School, Savanna. She also babysat in her home and enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Fanci. Most of all, Gayle cherished spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Gayle will be dearly missed by one son, Steve (Linda) Yenney of Savanna; five grandchildren, Troy Yenney of Savanna, Travis (Cami) Yenney of Mt. Carroll, and Trent (Nicole) Yenney of Savanna, Andrea (Jim) Neuschwanger of Forreston, Illinois, and Amber (Nathan) Cruz of Goodyear, Arizona; four great grandchildren, Preston and Andrew Yenney and Brandon Hutchinson and Hailey Yenney; one brother, Gerald (Barbara) Schubert of New Boston, Illinois; four nieces, Val (John) Vranicar of Naperville, Illinois, Angie Rockow of Freeport, Illinois, Sherryl (David) Charles of Rockford, Illinois, and Shelley (Ray) Comeau of Mt. Carroll; three great nieces, Monica Charles, Natalie Comeau, and Mallory Comeau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; one daughter, Dixie Mesch; two brothers, Leroy and Wayne Schubert; and two sisters, Maxine Labar and LaVonne Rockow.
