Gayle L. Eastman, age 81, of Hanover, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2006 at the United Presbyterian Church in Hanover. Reverends Lynne and Kendrick Matthews will officiate. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover.
Gayle was born Friday, October 24, 1924 in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Leona (Helbling) Gilman. She graduated from the Savanna High School with the Class of 1942. She married Charles J. Eastman May 17, 1947 in Monmouth, Illinois. Charles died September 6, 2003.
Gayle was a lineworker from 1968 until 1973 for Eaton Manufacturing, Hanover. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women. Gayle enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include two daughters; Nancy (LeRoy) Wernet of Winslow, Illinois and Karen (Robert) Cliff of Hanover; five granddaughters, two grandsons, four great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; one brother, Bill (Rita) Gilman of Savanna and a sister-in-law, Vivian Gilman of Savanna.
Gayle is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; two sisters, Kathryn Statham and Eleanor Hanson; and two brothers Ralph “Jerry” Gilman and Robert Gilman, Jr.
