Gary W. Irwin

Gary W. Irwin, age 56, of Preston, IA, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Preston. Visitation will take place from 9am to 11am that morning. Gary was born July 10, 1964, in Maquoketa, IA, the son of Edward and JoAnn (Budde) Irwin. He attended Andrew, IA schools, graduating from Andrew High School with the class of 1982. He married the love of his life, Darlyn (Schlarmann) on May 22, 1998, and worked for Collis, Inc, in Clinton, IA, for almost 33 years.

In his free time, Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, with Tony, Brady, and Ivan. He also found joy riding his motorcycle and side by side. He loved eating and snacking, especially his sweets, and occasionally enjoyed a Bud 55.

Gary is survived by his wife, Darlyn and fur-baby, George; siblings, Richard (Debra Freeto) Irwin, Barbara (Dan) Ehl, Mary (Don) Kendrick, Donna (Greg Edmundson) Borema, David Irwin, Ronald (Ruth) Irwin, and Lori (Patrick) Knake; mother in law, Barb (Gus) Doland; father-in-law, Dale (Julie) Schlarmann; in-laws Donna Roling, Doug Schlarmann, Dena(Tony) Lant, Jeanie (Frank) Horan, Mindy Ashcraft, Julie(Jeff) Haskill and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and JoAnn; sister-in-law Dory Irwin; and nephew, Jonathan Kendrick.
