Gary A Hartman

Gary A. Hartman, age 53, of rural Chadwick, Illinois died Thursday, June 9, 2011 as a result of a farm accident. A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chadwick with Pastor David Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Illinois. Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Gary's honor.
Gary was born Febuary 13, 1958 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Charles H. and Ruth (Hagberg) Hartman. He is a 1976 graduate of the Thomson High School and then attended Western Illinois University. Gary grew up farming and it always remained his passion. He farmed in Fairhaven Township near Chadwick. He also loved to restore International Harvester Tractors and to drive and show his Chevrolet Monte Carlos. He was a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau and the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chadwick.
Gary is survived by two daughters, Angela Hartman of Washington D.C. and Michelle Hartman of Savanna; his mother Ruth Hartman of rural Chadwick and his father, Charles Hartman of Savanna; three sisters, Lois Ebensberger of Aurora, Illinois, Nancy (Rick) Hale of Clinton, Iowa and Carol Wood of Mineral Point, Wisconsin; one brother, James (Patricia) Hartman of Stratford, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Gary is preceded in death by a brother in-law, Walter Wood, and a friend, Margaret Friedrich.
