Gary Lee Crete

Gary Lee Crete, age 70, of Savanna, IL passed away July 12, 2022 at Stephenson Nursing Center – Walnut Acres, in Freeport, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Gary was born July 22, 1951, in Savanna, IL, the son of Jay Edgar and Laura Irene (Emery) Crete. He attended Savanna High School. Most of his life’s work was behind the wheel of a semi, something he genuinely enjoyed. He drove for several companies over the years, before becoming a self-employed driver. Gary loved playing pool with buddies at Green’s Tap, and tinkering with small engines in his garage. And if he could supervise others, so he didn’t work up a sweat, that would be all the better. On November 10, 2013 Gary married Debbie (O’Conner) Rushing.

Gary is survived by his wife, Debbie; children, Shane (Angel) of Camanche, IA, Shawn (Andrea) of Minnesota, Shannon (Jessica) of Clinton, IA, Justin of Virginia, Gary jr. (Heather) of Clinton, IA, Cheyenne (Victor) Linares of Crete, IL, Brooklyn (Ashley), of Clinton, IA; and 26 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Jayson B. Crete.
