Gail S. Hutton, age 49, of Savanna, Illinois, died after a long illness, surrounded by her family on January 7, 2009 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Memorials may be given in Gail’s name to Carroll County Pheasants Forever or FHN Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit. Gail was born October 7, 1959 in Manitowic, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gregory and Sharon (Schelthelm) Gappa. She graduated from Elk Grove Village High School, Elk Grove, Illinois. Gail married Tom Hutton on August 8, 1986 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tom and Gail moved to Savanna, Illinois in 1989 where they were active conservationists and outdoorsmen. Gail enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, and hunting. She was an avid gardener and was very proud of her flower and vegetable garden, and her ornamental ponds. An expert quilter, Gail was pleased to donate her work to Carroll County Pheasants Forever. Gail was also an excellent cook. She loved animals, especially her dogs and horses. While living in Savanna, Gail work for various businesses; including the Savanna office of Mt. Carroll Insurance Agency, Casey’s Convenience Store, Savanna, where she was the manager, Shopko in Freeport and US Bank, Clinton, Iowa.Gail is survived by her husband, Tom Hutton of Savanna; her mother, Sharon Gappa of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; a brother, Greg Gappa, Jr. of Kentucky; her mother in-law, Theresa Hutton of Madison, Wisconsin; her step-daughter, Jodi (Michael) Champion of Neguanee, Michigan and their children, Gracie and Korie; her step-son, Christopher Hutton of Hancock, Michigan and his daughter, Isabell; three sisters in-law, Nadine Hutton of Santa Cruz, California, Valerie (Steven) Schwall of Indian Creek, Illinois and Pamela (Harold) Harsch of New Berlin, Wisconsin; her brother-in-law, Noel (Susan) Hutton of Middleton, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gail is preceded in death by her father and her father in-law, Arthur Hutton.
