Franklin “Frank” L. Flynn, age 80, of Clinton, Iowa formerly of Thomson, Illinois died Monday, February 18, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Law – Jones Funeral Home in Thomson. Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Frank’s memory.
Frank was born November 8, 1932 at home in Harmon, Illinois, the son of James Leroy and Edna Marie (Paschal) Flynn. He was educated in Fulton Schools. Frank honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On July 30, 1955, Frank married Irene Mae Kehring in Clinton, Iowa. Irene passed away in June of 1997. Frank farmed with his father in Albany, Illinois, and later worked for Pillsbury in Clinton. Frank also drove truck for Van Zuiden Trucking in Albany, until he became an owner operator over the road truck driver retiring in 1997. During his retirement he started Frank’s Taxi Service in Clinton.
Frank will be dearly missed by one son, David Flynn of Camanche, Iowa; two daughters, Susan (Roger) Dierks of Clinton, Iowa, Sharon (Thomas) Dyson of LaCrescent, Minnesota; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren with two on the way; two brothers, Mike and Bill; six sisters, Lucille, Mary, Lorraine, Arlene, Carol, Bonnie; and special friends, Chris, Casie, Chase. Frank is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene; son, Dale; and a brother, Joe.
