Frances Elizabeth Meader

Frances Elizabeth Meader, age 103, of Clinton, IA, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Alverno Healthcare Facility in Clinton, IA. Cremation rites have will be accorded. Burial of her cremated remains will be held at a later date in the McCormick Cemetery in Highland Center, IA.

Frances was born September 21, 1915 in Hedrick, IA, the daughter of Paul and Mary Lena (Davis) Bender. On December 15, 1934, Frances married Howard Wendell Meader. They celebrated 61 years of Marriage before Howard’s passing, December 17, 1995. Frances was a homemaker, who cherished taking care of her family. She enjoyed sewing, working with stained glass, volunteering with local 4-H clubs and the Brownie and Girl Scouts of America. She also enjoyed swimming exercises and long walks for many years.

Frances will be dearly missed by her daughter Judith “Judy” (Meader) Bowen of Helena, MT; her brother James Bender of Lexington, KY; son-in-law Ronald Smith of Fulton, IL; son-in-law Bill Davis of Georgetown, TX; sister-in-law Lydia Bender of Chula Vista, CA; and niece Mary Weston of Dover, NH. Frances is survived by nine grandchildren, Shawn (Sharon) Smith, Renee (Dave) Adolph, Rhonda (Bruce) Badtke, Steve (Linda) Davis, Brett Davis, David (Berta) Davis, Cameron Davis, Trace (Molly) Bowen, Carrie (Chris) Jones; twelve great-grandchildren; Kelly (Jessie) Kiste, Nicholas Smith, Amy Smith, Zachary (Kelsey) Davis, Giulia Davis, Danica Davis, Garrett (fiancé, Nikki Johnson) Badtke, Rachel Badtke, Anna Badtke, Justine (Matt) Reinhart, Olivia (Ben) Rowan, Celestine Jones; and one great-great-grandchild, Analise Reinhart.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband Howard; two daughters, Janet Smith and Gail Davis; one brother, Robert Bender; one sister, Margaret Whipple; and son-in-law Martin Bowen.

Loved ones may be taken from us, but their memories will remain with us forever.
